Safeguarding (Children and Adults at Risk) Training Courses

Excellence in Safeguarding Levels 2 and 3

– Booking Essential - Please see below

As Baptists we take very seriously the protection of children and adults at risk who are part of our churches. The Excellence in Safeguarding training courses have been designed specifically for Baptist churches to ensure their leaders and workers are able to undertake their roles in the best possible way.

The course is provided by Baptist Union of Great Britain.

It was developed by the Union's Safeguarding Group, who also developed Safe To Grow. The group includes experts in child protection from both social services and the police as well as BUGB's Safeguarding Officer.

Those who will deliver the course are:-

Miss Patricia Wiltshire, SWBA Trustee and Retired Social Worker. Tricia attends Calary Baptist in Canton, Cardiff. Click here to see her bio;

Mrs Sally George our Association Group Coordinator for Child Protection Issues. Sally attends Hope Baptist in Bridgend. Sally has years of experience in delivering child protection training and was one of the contributors to 'Safe to Grow’;

Rev Gareth Cheedy. Gareth ministers at Ammonford English Baptist in West Wales.

I recently retired as full time Prison Chaplain, a ministry I found challenging and very rewarding. At present I am part time minister of Ammanford English Baptist Church.  For over 20 years I have been involved in counselling and counselling training, I also qualified as a Counselling Supervisor.   I consider safeguarding to be of the utmost importance in our Churches these days and feel very privileged to be involved in delivering the courses within the denomination.

There has been a lot of interest in attending these training courses.

Much of the demand is from the Cardiff/Central area and we are seeking to arrange the most convenient venues.

Here's what some of our Ministers are saying about the course - 'Last Saturday was excellent - a lot of v helpful stuff which re-energised our team.  Thanks again.'

'The presentations were clear, concise and I personally learned so much more and many pre-conceived ideas I had were dealt with and for this I am very grateful.'

A safeguarding trustee who attended says:

'Thank you very much for all the course material. The day was most interesting and indeed challenging.'
